GCH CH YARROW VENERLE WINNING TICKET
At our 201st all breed dog show, the Colorado Kennel Club officers, board and members honored Denver Police Department SWAT officers Kenny Brown with Police Service Dog (PSD) Tigger, Mike Gallego with PSD Nada and Sergeant Perry Speelman for the outstanding service the officers and dogs perform for the city and county of Denver. Colorado Kennel Club will be donating a police service canine protective vest in their honor.
Over 75 youth attended the 4H workshops at the Colorado Kennel Club sponsored event at the Denver Dog Days of the Performing Arts. The youth explored workshops in showmanship, agility, obedience and rally. 4Hers also participated in Canine Good Citizen testing, Trick Dog testing, AKC Patch program, sign up for a Junior Handler number, Junior Showmanship at CKC B Match and regular classes at the All Terrier Club of Greater Denver match. Many took advantage of the grooming clinic to learn how to groom their dogs. Several of the first time enthusiasts did not bring dogs and observed the different activities to get an idea of areas they wished to participate in.
4H participants came from all over the state, west from Montrose county, south and east of Pueblo county, north to Larimer and Weld counties as well as metro counties. Most of the students attended all four workshops. Of note, the Showmanship workshop was led by a former 4H and Junior Showmanship participant that recently aged out of these activities.
4H students earned 11 CGC, 10 CGCA and 8 CGCU titles. Likewise in Trick Dog, 4H participants earned 2 TD novice, 1 TD Intermediate, 1 TD Advanced. In total, 33 titles were awarded. What an outstanding showing. Many others attempted titles and will continue to work with their dogs to accomplish the specifics of the title.
The General Meeting will be at the DoubleTree Conference Center
